Peace Out Gramma

We had Jason's Gramma's memorial service on 7/7/07. It was an emotional, but amazing, service. There were tears, but more appropriately, there were laughs. Gramma would have been proud of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren (2 were there!), and longtime friends who shared how she touched their lives in so many different ways.

Sandy, giving her touching eulogy to her mother. She handed out playing cards saying "[Gramma] always played the hand she was dealt", and encouraged each of us to do the same. I just realized that Jason and I got "10" and "8" (10-8 is copspeak for "ready for service") Yes, you could say we are ready for what God is going to throw at us... We are ready for service.

Jason's cousin, Aron, home on leave from Iraq. When Grampa died, he did not say anything at the service. When he stood up for Gramma, it was amazing, grown-up and perfectly said. Aron, if you ever read this, your family is immensely proud of you and love you.

Faith, meeting Uncle Kenny for the first time. He couldn't get enough of her!!

(I told you there were laughs!) Jason's 11 year old cousin, Tim, was talking smack about Notre Dame (oh no he di-int!), so Jason and his dad found the closest ummm... disciplinary tool. The ice bucket. Tim changed into swim trunks after that. Me thinks he learned his lesson!

On a more serious note:

Gramma, you are and will be missed, but we will keep loving each other, learning from our mistakes, and growing together... just as you led by example. Thanks for making us a family.
