Vacation Bible School 2009

Faith had her first "school" experience in the form of Vacation Bible School at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Castro Valley! I was soooo excited to have her attend there because Mark, the Rector at Holy Cross, has been my priest, friend and mentor since I was 8 years old and married Jason and I as well as baptized Faith. Mark has always gone above and beyond in his VBS planning and even holds a doctorate (or is getting it... I'm hazy on the deets) in VBS! No... seriously!

Faith did awesome at her "Bible School", as she called it and loved making new friends and getting to do lots of art projects! Because she has never gone to daycare or anything like that, these projects were a first for us both! I'm so excited to have little things hanging in the house that Faith made and is proud of!

The Decor

The theme was "Dr. Seuss on The Loose: God's Love is Always a Party!". One amazing think about Mark's VBS's is that every morning, the church has something new and spectacular to add to the theme! By VBS Sunday, the church is alive with the fun of VBS!!

The Star-Bellied Sneetches
and
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

One Fish, Two Fish...
and
The Places You'll Go!

The Lorax
and
The Places You'll Go!

The Crafts

A Bug House to remind us to respect all living things from "The Lorax" day. (it wasn't attached on all sides so the bugs could be released)
and
A Windchime to remind us that God can hear even the smallest of sounds from "Horton Hears a Who" day.

A Fish Bowl from "The Lorax" day
and
Making a house for her Pet Rock (whom she named Fiona. Shocking).

A Marble Maze to remind us that there are different paths for us to take (I forget which day)
and
Decorating 2 Christmas cookies from "The Grinch" day. One cookie, she ate, the other she gave to someone she thought could use a smile. She chose Daddy. :)

The Food

The guy from the church they had do the snack each day was INCREDIBLE! No stale Goldfish Crackers and Bug Juice here!

A Truffula Tree from "The Lorax"
and
From "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" day

A Horton Cupcake
and
A Star-Bellied Sneetch

and of course, Green Eggs and Ham (She's eating the ham)
(I couldn't get the darn thing to upload in the right direction! Sorry!)

The Songs and Games

12 three and four year olds + a parachute = Awesome.

Learning some songs on the first day. How cute is she???

The kids had "choir" every day to learn a song to sing at church on VBS Sunday. The boys in Faith's class were not exactly singing as much as they were trying to yell the general sounds of the song as loud as they could. The Choir teacher told the boys "That was very inspiring! Now let's see if we can't sing it at a volume that keeps Faith's fingers out of her ears!"

We can't wait until next year!!
